Bai Mudan, also known as White Peony, is a celebrated Chinese white tea made from a combination of one bud and one or two leaves, harvested from the Da Bai varietal. Plucked in mid-April, after the tender buds used for Bai Hao Yin Zhen, Bai Mudan offers a richer, fuller flavor due to the more mature leaves.
The name “White Peony” comes from the tea’s unique brewing appearance — as the green leaves and silver-tipped buds unfurl, they resemble the delicate petals of a blooming white peony flower.
